- Stiff putty knife or window zipper tool
- Rubber mallet
- Vacuum
- Silicone spray lubricant
- Rags
Step by step
- Step 1
Unlock the window and look for paint bridging the sash and frame, inside and out.
- Step 2
Slide the putty knife or window zipper along every seam to cut through the paint.
- Step 3
Tap gently around the sash frame with a rubber mallet (or a hammer and wood block).
- Step 4
Vacuum and wipe the tracks clean of dirt and debris.
- Step 5
Spray silicone lubricant lightly into the tracks and on the sides of the sash, then work it up and down.
When to stop and call ProFix

- Sash cords or balances are broken (window won't stay up)
