Tools & materials
- Screen mesh roll
- Spline (match the old diameter)
- Spline roller tool
- Utility knife
- Flat screwdriver
Step by step
- Step 1
Lay the screen frame flat. Pry up an end of the old spline with a screwdriver and pull it out with the old mesh.
- Step 2
Lay the new mesh over the frame with about 1 inch of overhang on every side.
- Step 3
Starting at a corner, press the spline over the mesh into the channel with the convex wheel of the roller.
- Step 4
Work down one side, then the opposite side, keeping the mesh snug but not drum-tight so the frame doesn't bow.
- Step 5
Finish the last two sides, then trim the extra mesh with a sharp utility knife along the outside edge of the spline.
