Step by step
- Step 1
Mark the rod height: 66 inches for long hanging, or 40 and 80 inches for a double-hang closet.
- Step 2
Level a line across the back and both side walls.
- Step 3
Mount the rod sockets on the side walls, screwing into studs or using heavy anchors.
- Step 4
Measure between the sockets and cut the rod about 1/8 inch shorter.
- Step 5
Install the rod and add a center bracket screwed into a stud if the span is longer than 48 inches.
